I have had that happen to me twice to dogs, and twice to relatives I was close to. In all four cases they were old. I find it best to think of it as an end to suffering they had to endure do to advanced age, remember the happy times, and I suggest you read, listen to, or watch something that will lighten your spirits.Khas wrote:No. One very big reason is that one of my dogs just died, and I've been somewhat of an emotional wreck for a while.
A bit of an explanation...

i can relate. when i was 9 or 10, i had a little wiener dog named rosie that would never ever stop barking no matter what. after about a week with no sleep, my dad snapped and threw one of those tiny pumpkins at her as hard as he could, nailing her right in the face with such force that she went flying end over end and was dead by the time she hit the ground. the next day, my dad told me that rosie was the stupidest dog he had ever seen and had probably wandered off and got lost somewhere.Khas wrote:No. One very big reason is that one of my dogs just died, and I've been somewhat of an emotional wreck for a while.
when my dad finally fessed up, FIFTEEN YEARS LATER, i thought i was going to die laughing. i wish i could have seen that.
wait. i guess being traumatized by the death of a pet isn't really the same thing as finding the death of a pet hilarious and wishing you could have seen it.
never mind.

Sorry for your loss, Khas, I know how easy it is to get attached to small pets...
